‘Glee’ Cast, ‘Run the World (Girls)’

While you have to wait until tomorrow to watch the drama unfold on this episode, we've got one of the episode's key songs to tide you over, which is Brittany and Santana offering a rousing rendition of Beyonce's empowering and epic, XX chromosome celebrating anthem 'Run the World (Girls).'

Yes, we know, it's not easy to step into Beyonce's Louboutins and cover one of her signature songs, since she is the queen of the pop music landscape.

But let's assign some credit where credit is due, since the 'Glee' girls do a fine job of keeping up with the song's intense, percussive backbone and breakneck (by pop music standards) pacing.

The 'Glee' version is super loyal to the original, which it needs to be. There's not much re-imagining you can do with this song since it's so room-filling and anthemic. But the girls are having fun with it and celebrating their womanhood and their voices sound BIG. They also sound so adorable saying "We run this mother!" It never goes the uber cheerleader route, even though it could have. It's just a big song with big voices on a big show. All that harmonizing and the strong woman lyrics resonate even when sung by high schoolers!
