October is a big month for No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani. She'll turn 43 on Oct. 3 and she'll be hot on the heels of the release of 'Push and Shove,' No Doubt's first album in over a decade. She has the blues on the cover of the October issue of ELLE U.K., but that's just the color motif. Stefani is anything but blue.

Stefani opens up about the difficulties of motherhood, confessing that "being a mom is hard." Stefani has two adorable (and fashionable) sons -- Kingston, 6, and Zuma, 4 -- in addition to her band, her now-shuttered solo career and her L.A.M.B. fashion line. The continued struggle to achieve balance between the professional and the personal informed her songwriting on 'Push and Shove.' Stefani, who covered September's Harper Bazaar, said the album is "about being overwhelmed and the balancing and trying to do all of it."

At least the lovely and talented Stefani has an outlet like music to channel and funnel her frustrations in life. Lucky for fans, too, since they can relate to her and the everyday struggles that she goes through, as well. Granted, most women don't do it while looking utterly flawless with platinum blond locks, blood red lips, and priceless couture. But strip all of that away and Gwen Stefani isn't too different from the rest of us!
