Daniel Craig is returning for one more film as James Bond but after that, the franchise will be in search of a new 007 and Idris Elba has an idea for the next star.

Speaking with Variety, Elba threw out the idea of having the Bond role go to a female. "Are we interested in having a Bond character other than being a male?" he asked. "It could be a woman. It could be a Black woman. It could be a White woman."

Regardless of a Black actress or White actress being selected, Elba believes people would like to see a change. "I think that character, everybody would like to see them do something different with it," the actor said.

Elba himself has been the center of rumors as the next Bond actor but the star has said he's tired of talking about it. In a 2015 interview with Telegraph, Elba said "can we not" when asked if they could discuss the media obsession with him portraying the character.

"It feels like I’m campaigning, and I’m not," he added. "At first it was harmless—oh, I know, wouldn’t it be great?—and now it’s started off racial debates. I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I’ve not even played the role. Enough is enough. I can’t talk about it any more.”

The film star added that he's probably the most famous Bond actor without having actually played the role.
