Jordin Sparks recorded the duet 'Celebrate' with Whitney Houston for their forthcoming movie 'Sparkle,' and now the 22-year-old star is opening up about the final cut of the song.

“I actually just heard a cut of it the other day and my jaw was on the floor,” she tells Entertainment Weekly. Sparks plays the daughter of Houston's character in the music-themed film, which is due out this summer.

Sparks also expounded on working with the late R&B icon. “For me as a singer growing up listening to her, to be able to do a song with her is incredible. And being her friend, just hearing how she sounded, it was amazing," she added. "So I can’t wait for people to hear that. I cannot wait.”

The soundtrack to the film will feature Sparks' talents on multiple tracks, which she could not be more excited about. "My fans are going to see a different side of me," she continues. "Because it's deep R&B. It's got that old '60s flair. It's just really emotional and super connected."

'Sparkle' is a remake of the 1976 movie of the same name. It also stars Mike Epps, Cee Lo Green and Omari Hardwick, and is scheduled to open in theaters on Aug. 17.
