According to the GLSEN, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are inspirations to the LGBT community.

In a press release issued today, the national education organization announced that the couple will be honored with the Inspiration Award at their upcoming Respect Awards, a ceremony founded in 2004 to honor "the work of students, educators, individuals and corporations who serve as exemplary role models and have made a significant impact on the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth."

The two have been involved in dozens of charity organizations in the past — everything from golf tournaments to benefit hospitals (despite severed ties) to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro for clean water awareness.

But as far as their recent work for LGBT youth? No specifics mentioned. They have done it, at least, according to organizers: In a statement given to People by executive director Dr. Eliza Byard, the two have "consistently been visible and committed allies."

Visible allies? With all due respect, we have to ask: What has Justin Timberlake done to be "visible" about his support for the LGBT community? Nothing comes to mind from recent memory. Was there a tweet we missed or something?

The press release further explains that the two will be honored "for their long-standing commitment to improving the lives of children. They have also been vocal supporters of the LGBT community, using their profiles to raise awareness among fans and advocate for positive changes."

On the other hand, several prominent pop stars have been loudly championing LGBT equality in the media over the past year, including Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus.

Previous Inspiration Award winners over the past few years include Derek Hough, Jim Parsons and his partner Todd Spiewak, and Matt Bomer and his husband Simon Wells.

The GLSEN's mission statement is to advocate for a safe school environment for all students, "in which every child learns to respect and accept all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression."

There's no doubt the couple has done wonderful things with their celebrity for various charitable causes over the years, but we're still trying to figure out exactly what JT's done to 'visibly' support — or even acknowledge — the gay community. Anyone?
