You never forget your first. Kelly Clarkson was the first winner of 'American Idol,' kicking off this mega-successful franchise with a voice that could make grown men drop to their knees and weep. On tonight's results episode, Clarkson performed 'Don't You Wanna Stay,' her platinum-selling duet with country superstar Jason Aldean.

Clarkson wore a curve-hugging black dress and heels, and exuded confidence from every pore. She looked resplendent and totally in her element. Ballads are certainly her forte, even though we can't resist the jump-up-and-down pop fluff of 'Since U Been Gone,' and tonight's performance was indicative of why Clarkson was crowned the queen of Season One! She can sing pop, rock and country, and be totally believable.

While she has said that her new album, due out this September, has a lot of soul influences, we would not be shocked if Clarkson eventually went country somewhere down the road of her career. She and Aldean express an easy, breezy chemistry and we'd like to hear more from them  as a duet.

Clarkson spoke with her old pal Ryan Seacrest for a few moments after her performance, referring to furry faced contestant Casey Abrams as "delicious!" Oh, Kelly! You're too cute. Maybe sparks will fly between Clarkson and Abrams backstage and we'll be writing a "New Couple Alert" story about them next week? You never know. Nevertheless, tonight's performance made us yearn for some new Kelly Clarkson tunes. We cannot wait for September to get a full album from our gal Kelly!
