Khloe Kardashian gave an update on Lamar Odom’s progress, and things certainly look good for the two-time NBA champion, though he's not quite in the clear yet.

During a recent Los Angeles-area book signing for her new book Strong Looks Better Naked, Khloe said (via PEOPLE), "He is alive on his own, and no machines are helping him, which is great, but he still has a lot of physical and cognitive therapy to go through, so it's a long road for him.”

Khloe continued, saying the next step for Lamar is re-learning how to walk. As soon as he can walk either on his own or with a walker “then he will probably leave the hospital and do a lot of cognitive mental strengthening.”

As we reported before, Lamar’s doctors are shocked at his rate of recovery, and while he still has things to work on, he’s doing remarkably well considering his status when he initially entered the hospital early last month after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel.

As for the status of Khloe and Lamar’s relationship, it’s true that the couple called off their impending divorce, but Khloe insists that the two are in no way romantically involved.

She said, "Even if he was 100 percent better, he has a lot of other issues he has to deal with, I think, before taking on any relationship. He's doing better every day, for sure, which is a blessing, but it's going to be a long road and he has to walk that road. It's going to be a long time."
