Is Lady Gaga looking to "funk the punk" in her next album?

Fans on the pop music message board ATRL noticed that audio engineer Phil Tan and drummer George "Spanky" McCurdy conversed on Twitter about working on a new Lady Gaga track.

On Aug. 16, Tan -- an audio engineer based in Atlanta -- tweeted to McCurdy: "It was great working with you last night @Spankydrumz on the LadyGaGa track. Live drum beats are our obsession, man. #FunkThePunk"

McCurdy, an acclaimed drummer who previously worked with Gaga on the Born This Way album, responded: "Aaaaaye! I'm honored Phil! Thank u sir! I'll be n ATL next week if you're around."

So is Tan's hashtag of "Funk the Punk" the name of a new Gaga song?

Gaga had previously stated in Dec. 2014 that she was working on her untitled fifth studio album, and that famed producer RedOne will once again be collaborating with the pop star. Little is known about what Gaga has planned for her followup to her 2013 album, ARTPOP, but told Yahoo! Style that she wants her fans to be "surprised" by it.

"I will just tell you that it’s a wonderful, soul-searching experience,” she told the site. "This record is like — my old self as a cadaver. And I’m just, I’m operating on my old self.”
