Lady Gaga and Madonna have a lot in common. They're both blonde, Italian, talented, and in their '20s, they were the biggest pop stars of their time. Not to mention that they both have unique and enviable senses of style and boatloads of stage presence.

So it's no surprise that rumors that they dislike one another have popped up here and there. There can only be room for one alpha female at the top of the pop food chain.

Then Gaga's 'Born This Way' sparked comparisons to Madge's 1989 hit 'Express Yourself,' adding gasoline to an already raging fire. Gaga has always spoken positively about Madge, calling her the Queen and saying she respects her. Madge hasn't been as vocal about Gaga. In fact, The Mirror reported that that Madonna said "Lady Who" when asked about Gaga at the London premiere of 'W.E.,' the film that she directed. Ouch.

Gaga broke the ice about the Material Girl to The Mirror when she was across the pond, saying, "Madonna is a wonderful influence on me. I feel blessed to have grown up with a powerful, blond woman to show us the ropes. It's all down to her that I'm able to do what I do. I really like her new single too. The one that was leaked. There's no problem between us."

Even Gaga listens to leaked music. Since Madge was furious that the song leaked, she might be pissed that Gaga commented on it. However, we're glad to hear that there is no beef between our two favorite pop stars with Italian heritage. And Gaga did pay Madonna a huge compliment by saying she is only able to do what she does because Madonna cleared the path. Olive branch, anyone?

Do we sense a duet brewing here? It's a huge leap of faith, but we like to dream big and plant seeds here at PopCrush.
