Lauren Alaina Hopes Scotty McCreery Onscreen Kiss Gets Teen Choice Awards Nom

The 2011 Teen Choice Awards are just around the corner, and now 'American Idol' runner-up Lauren Alaina is campaigning for a nomination for her on-screen kiss with Scotty McCreery.

"I think me and Scotty should be nominated for best on screen kiss at the teen choice awards! Haha," the 16-year-old tweeted on July 18, adding, "If that's a category!"

The finalists locked lips during the Season 10 finale, allowing millions of viewers to witness their seemingly spontaneous smooch. Alaina was coy about whether the two were dating, but McCreery was much more forthcoming, denying the rumors outright.

“Everybody keeps asking me about the smooch," he said after winning the singing competition. "She told me she was gonna do that before the show. She’s a sweetheart.” He later added, “She’s a character, isn’t she? We’re really close friends … I don’t know about the dating part. She’s just being funny.”

During an interview on 'Live! With Regis and Kelly,' Alaina confessed that she kissed McCreery "on a dare." "Double dog dare, that’s what it was,” she added. “You have to do it if you get double dog dared, it’s just like the rules."
