Lee DeWyze, ‘Beautiful Like You’ – Song Spotlight

Last season's 'American Idol' winner, Lee DeWyze, will perform his new single 'Beautiful Like You' when he returns to his televised kingdom tonight, March 17. 

The dense studio production of the song -- which takes full advantage of all the traditional rock instruments -- reveals itself musically as a churning, somewhat downbeat affair. The verse lyrics follow suit, acknowledging that the world can be a tough place to be yourself.

Ultimately though, the take-home message of the chorus is uplifting, tried-and-true advice, with the music brightening up a bit as if to rise to the occasion:

"If you could only stop stop stop running / If you could only take a second to breathe it in / Everything that you know is beautiful like you / Like you."

'Beautiful Like You' is the second single from DeWyze's first post-'Idol' album, 'Live it Up.' Its predecessor, 'Sweet Serendipity,' hit the Top 20 on the Hot AC charts. You can catch DeWyze in person at the handful of select concert dates he's got lined up for the spring.
