Lil Jon, ‘Drink’ Feat. LMFAO – Song Review

Lil Jon has found himself a kindred spirit. Two of them, in fact, and he's teaming up with them on the track 'Drink,' featuring Redfoo and SkyBlu of LMFAO.

The song's title is unsurprising for anyone familiar with the party vibe of both Lil Jon and LMFAO. Jon is actually an advisor for something called Crunk Energy Drink, so the title makes even more sense.

What's hilarious is that 'Drink' is virtually the same song as 'Shots,' the 2009 track by LMFAO featuring Lil Jon. The roles are reversed, with Jon taking lead artist credit, but the chorus is exactly the same. Instead of yelling, "Shots! Shots! Shots!," the guys are now yelling, "Drink! Drink! Drink!," over a saxophone riff.

If anything, Lil Jon has taken the profanity to a new level. "We came in the club to get real f---ed up and motherf---in' party! How bout you?," he screams during the song's introduction.

There's not much substance here, although we can imagine a few occasions where the song might be appropriate, like a late night at the club, a frat party or a 21st birthday, perhaps.

If this really is a new Lil Jon song, and not just some leaked B-side or an older version of 'Shots' before it ended up getting changed, the lack of originality is mind-blowing.
