Lil Wayne wraps his I Am Still Music tour on May 1, but fans of the varietal hip-hop show will get to relive the experience in a new tour documentary set to be released by the Young Money labelhead.

In an interview with MTV, the rapper made reference to Jay-Z's 2000 movie, 'Backstage,' and Russell Simmons' 1995 film, 'The Show,' when talking about the inspiration for his upcoming doc. “I just felt like a movie like that hasn’t come out in so long, and I also felt that [I have] the artists with me to pull it off," he says.

"At that time when they put those movies out, we as the fans were interested in what they were doing on the road," he continues. "... Nobody hasn’t came around since then that was that interesting other than Young Money. I felt like it was time to do one and I think it's going to be real major; it’s going to be real big."

The I Am Still Music documentary isn't Lil Wayne's first. The 28-year-old reportedly allowed cameras to follow him prior to his eight-month prison sentence last year, but the project, shot by DJ Scoob Doo, was never released.

Weezy, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross and Travis Barker have three dates left on the I Am Still Music tour, finishing with a festival appearance at The Bamboozle in East Rutherford, N.J. A release date for the documentary has not yet been set.
