‘Lizzie McGuire’ Star Lalaine Vergara-Paras Says She Was ‘Forced to Look as White as Possible’
Former Lizzie McGuire star Lalaine Vergara-Paras just dropped a huge Disney bombshell.
The actress, who played Hilary Duff's on-screen best friend Miranda Sanchez for two seasons, shared an Instagram post detailing how she as forced to look white growing up despite being a person of color.
"Most of my life growing up I was forced to look as 'white' as possible," Vergara-Paras wrote alongside a photo of herself. "These days I struggle to find photos where I look as ethnic as possible. Like in this photo, the most East Asian I've ever looked. In order to see, for most people, you have to zoom in on ma face."
"And in case you still don't understand, I love my face in this photo," she concluded
Her Lizzie McGuire co-star Clayton Snyder, who played heartthrob Ethan Craft, supported her in the comments section of her pic, writing, "You were the first person to open my eyes to the role of race in acting when I asked why you didn't use your last name. Said it was too Hispanic. Made me sad."
Meanwhile, there have been rumors swirling about a potential Lizzie McGuire revival after Duff said, “There’s been some conversations" during an interview, adding that "it could be a possibility or it could be nothing, so we’ll see.”
