In a story proving so bizarre it has to be true, it looks like a British man woke up from a coma with not only a newfound ability to speak fluent French, but he also believed he was actually actor Matthew McConaughey.

According to the New York Post, Rory Curtis was aware that he wasn’t actually Matthew McConaughey, but part of him thought he had to be. He said: “When I looked in the mirror, I was shocked because I didn’t look like him. I didn’t know what I was looking at. Then it eventually clicked and I thought, ‘He is an actor — what am I on about?’”

Rory went on to say that he continued to think about shooting movies, saying: "But at times I was in (the) hospital thinking, `I can’t wait to get out of here and back to filming movies.’”

Weirder still, was Rory’s newfound ability to speak French fluently. Apparently, he studied the language in school but was never a fluent speaker — until he emerged from the coma. He reportedly spoke with a nurse in fluent French once he awoke, something he and his family still can't explain: "I wasn’t really that good at it in school, so I don’t (know) how my brain has managed to do what it has.”

Rory was in a coma for six days after a terrible car accident, but has a new appreciation for life that he credits to the event. "The accident changed my outlook on life,” he said. “I can’t leave the house now without telling everyone I love them and giving them a hug.”
