The Lonely Island have almost made Michael Bolton cool.

The forgotten crooner, known for his big voice and early '90s adult contemporary hits like 'When a Man Loves a Woman,' makes a cameo as a Johnny Depp-obsessed movie fanatic in the video for 'Jack Sparrow,' a track from the trio's new album 'Turtleneck & Chain.'

The clip starts with the Lonely Island – Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg – in the studio as Bolton arrives. He apologizes for being late, saying he got caught up in a 'Pirates of the Caribbean' marathon, then promises he wrote "a big sexy hook" for their new song.

The rhythmic rap song begins as the group -- and Bolton -- hit the club to look for ladies. Cut to Bolton, who suddenly appears on a windy beach to deliver the chorus he promised. In his typical, way-too-earnest style, Bolton sings, "This is the tale of Captain Jack Sparrow / A pirate so brave on the seven seas."

The befuddled band members continue with the song, only to have Bolton, now in costume as Captain Jack himself, constantly interrupt with references to Tortuga and giant squid.

When the guys finally make clear they're not fond of Bolton's pirate-loving hook, he says, "Roger that, let me try it with another film," and proceeds to belt out plot lines from 'Forrest Gump,' 'Erin Brockovich' and 'Scarface,' while dressed up as characters from each.

The silly video is likely to score Bolton some major cool points, though we admit we've always secretly been in Mike's corner. 'How Can We Be Lovers,' anyone?
