Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson to Pair Up for Reality Show

Fashionista/reality star Nicole Richie and music/design/reality star Jessica Simpson are joining teams for an obvious pairing. No, it's not a new song, it's a reality competition! The blonde ladies will join John Varvatos and host Elle MacPherson on a new NBC series, 'Fashion Star.'

Both Jess and Nic will act as celebrity mentors to the fashion contestants. "Jessica, Nicole, John and Elle make the most exciting team we have ever worked with on a reality television show and we are thrilled to feature such an extraordinary group of mentors and designers," the show's executive producer, Ben Silverman, tells US Weekly.

The news of the new show couldn't come at a better time for Simpson, who is tied up launching a line of teen apparel for the Jessica Simpson Collection with her musical sister Ashlee Simpson. Those clothes are expected to hit racks later this fall.

As for Richie, even with two kids and a Good Charlotte husband, she still manages to primp with the best of them -- even if she won't admit it. "I don't think it's as prepared as you'd think," she told In Style UK. "I just grab whatever's around and put it on."

Uh-huh. We totally believe you! 'Fashion Star' will be taped in front of a live studio audience and will not only offer celebrity judges, but music and models, too. No word on when it's set to hit the runway, but we're stoked for this celeb match-up!
