The pending divorce between Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson seemed to be a little too simple, but that all changed Tuesday afternoon (March 8). According to TMZ, Wentz filed legal documents in Los Angeles seeking joint primary and legal custody of his and estranged wife's 2-year-old son, Bronx.

Simpson, who filed for divorce from Wentz last month, sought primary physical and joint legal custody of their son. She also asked in these documents that Wentz pay legal fees for both of them, but in the new papers filed at the L.A. County Superior Court by the Fall Out Boy bassist, he requests that each party handle their own fees.

In a statement released after their divorce announcement, Simpson and Wentz said, "We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority."

Wentz and Simpson wed in May 2008, when Simpson was already three months pregnant with Bronx, born November 20, 2008.
