The ‘Riverdale’ Season 3 Trailer + 7 Other Spoilers from Comic-Con
As Riverdale Season 3 inches closer, cast and crew are letting more and more details slip.
During their panel at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, the show's team dropped a whole host of spoilers, plus the first trailer for the third season. The three-minute video, now online, is sort of a hybrid between recap and preview, rehashing a few scenes from Season 2 while also looking ahead. It does tee up Archie's arrest for the murder of Cassidy (a crime for which, as viewers know, he is not guilty) but doesn't reveal his fate — though from casting news we know he'll be facing his day in court.
Elsewhere, Betty and Jughead seem to, for once, be happy and drama free (at least as far as their relationship goes), and Cheryl is embracing both her relationship with Toni and the new Serpent status that comes with it. We also see the promise of romance for Kevin, who's spotted making out with Moose, but, of course, it's not all sunshine and rainbows: Betty and Cheryl are both struggling to banish their family's dark histories, while Polly's creepy camp friends definitely signal trouble.
Watch the trailer and read more Comic-Con spoilers below.

Archie Has a New Nemesis
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the CW revealed on Sunday (July 22) that Penelope Ann Miller (The Artist) has been cast as District Attorney Ms. Wright. The character may not be a villain in the same sense as, say, the Black Hood, but she is dead-set on convicting (an innocent) Archie for murder, and that's enough to make her usurp Hiram's title as Archie's arch-rival — at least for the time being.

Josie May Drive a Wedge Between Cheryl and Toni
According to a number of tweets TV Guide sent out during the show's panel, Josie will cause some friction for Choni, likely tied to all of those creepy drawings (and let's not forget: a pig heart!!) Cheryl left her last season...

There's a Three Month Time Jump
Details about what happens within those three months are still unclear, though we do know the Cooper family is still quite fractured.
“Betty spent her summer doing an internship, and she was really distracting herself,” said Lily Reinhart, who plays Betty, per TV Line. “Alice and Polly kind of attack her. Their new, weird spirituality with the farm makes them tell her that she needs to listen to her soul and confront her problems. So Betty wants to stay far, far away from them.”

We'll Finally See Jughead's Mom and Sister
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa hinted at this in early interviews for Season 3, and Comic-Con confirmed it: Gladys and Jellybean will arrive in Riverdale in Episode 8 or 9.

Betty and Veronica Are on the Mend
After fighting on-and-off throughout Season 2, Betty and Veronica will finally be back on solid ground.

But Varchie Might Be on the Rocks
“I think they’re going to run into some problems,” Camila Mendes teased of Archie and Veronica, also per TV Line.
