You better work — and she certainly has, for well over three decades in the entertainment industry now, which makes RuPaul's first-ever Emmys win all the more satisfying.

During last night's Creative Arts Emmys awards ceremony (September 11), RuPaul (finally!) won the Award for outstanding host of a reality or reality competition series for RuPaul's Drag Race.

"What our show represents is the tenacity of the human spirit," Ru said in a press interview.

"I really didn't expect this. I came here thinking 'Wow, I got invited to the prom and I'm gonna dance my ass off tonight.' But I didn't expect that I would have this in my hand when I was dancing tonight. It's a very special night, not just for me, but for all the young people around the world who dance to the beat of a different drummer."

RuPaul made all the other girls in the category sashay away, including Hollywood Game Night's Jane Lynch, Project Runway's Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, American Idol's Ryan Seacrest, Dancing With the Stars' Tom Bergeron and Little Big Shots' Steve Harvey.

A few months prior, Ru gave an enlightening interview, explaining her lack of enthusiasm for recognition from the mainstream awards shows: "I made a pact with myself when I was 15 that if I was going to live this life, I’m only going to do it on my terms...[I] never wanted to be a part of that bulls--t. In fact, I’d rather have an enema than have an Emmy."

Welp. Now she'll have something shiny to hold while she's getting it done next time.

“Earlier this year I was quoted as saying I’d rather have an enema than have an Emmy. But thanks to the Television Academy, I can have both!” said Ru, according to Deadline.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight moments after accepting the award, Ru got emotional and began to cry: "I think about all the kids who watch this show all over the world, who finally have an emotional navigation system...I'm most proud of that."

Condragulations, Ru! Well deserved.
