For their performances on 'American Idol' tonight, contestants had to choose to songs from "Now and Then," and for his contemporary performance, country boy Scotty McCreery picked Montgomery Gentry's uptempo, rock-infused hit 'Gone.' McCreery didn't take his normal position on the stool in the spotlight, and instead chose to work the crowd and the stage in an electrifying, superstar manner.

McCreery entered from behind the hoards of his screaming fans in the audience, immediately getting the girls swooning. Wearing a denim jacket, jeans and boots, McCreery engaged with the audience and viewers as he sang big notes and in a faster pace than we are used to seeing from the charming country crooner.

After killing it onstage, audience members, mostly females, broke into an uproar that seemed to go on forever. Steven Tyler put it best, saying, "Scotty my man, up until now you've been like a Puritan, but I swear to God I saw you dance with the devil tonight." J. Lo also showed Scotty some love, and Rnady Jackson applauded McCreery for showing us "concert Scotty," exclaiming, "Who knew that you could rock the stage like that!"

McCreery always has solid performances, and his rendition of 'Gone' will definitely make Troy Gentry and Eddie Montgomery proud men. Give us more, "concert Scotty" next week please!
