On tonight's episode of 'American Idol,' country boy Scotty McCreery chose to take on LeAnn Rimes' 2010 cover of John Anderson's 1983 hit 'Swingin'.' The contestants had to pick songs recorded in the 21st century for tonight's challenge.

Scotty McCreery went against the advice of coach Jimmy Iovine and chose to go with another country song this week. His rendition of 'Swingin'' kicked off with a full horn section as McCreery, clad in a leather jacket and cowboy boots, sang the song with his usual country twang. Despite picking another country tune, McCreery did not fail to show a wide vocal range while singing the playful, upbeat song.

Once he hit his last note, the crowd immediately began cheering for McCreery. However, the judges weren't as happy with McCreery's performance. Steven Tyler told McCreery to give more movement to his performances, but still said he enjoyed the performance. Jennifer Lopez tells McCreery, "It's time to pull out the big guns," since she was disappointed he played it so safe. Randy Jackson agreed, saying, "To me that was so safe it was actually kind of boring for you."

So will Scotty McCreery make it another round? We will just have to wait until tomorrow to see!
