The Two Phrases Replacing ‘End Racism’ in This Year’s Super Bowl End Zones
The end zones at this year's Super Bowl will look slightly different on Sunday (Feb. 9).
Since February 2021, the words "End Racism" have appeared in NFL stadiums around the country, including during the Super Bowl.
In 2025, however, two new phrases will replace the sentiment.
Super Bowl 2025 Dropping 'End Racism' in End Zones
At the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La., this Super Bowl Sunday, "End Racism" will be replaced by these two new phrases on the end zones: "Choose Love" and "It Takes All of Us."
According to The New York Times, the new phrases were selected in response to recent tragedies in the United States.
"The Super Bowl is often a snapshot in time and the NFL is in a unique position to capture and lift the imagination of the country. ‘Choose Love’ is appropriate to use as our country has endured in recent weeks wildfires in Southern California, the terrorist attack here in New Orleans, the plane and helicopter crash near our nation’s capital and the plane crash in Philadelphia," NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said.
On Monday (Feb. 3), NFL commissioner Roger Goodell noted during the Super Bowl press conference that diversity will continue to be a priority for the league.
"We got into diversity efforts because we felt it was the right thing for the National Football League, and we’re going to continue those efforts because we’ve not only convinced ourselves, I think we’ve proven to ourselves that it does make the NFL better. We’re not in this because it’s a trend to get into it or a trend to get out of it. Our efforts are fundamental in trying to attract the best possible talent into the National Football League both on and off the field," Goodell said.
