Troye Sivan gifted Ellen DeGeneres with a stellar live performance of his latest single "Youth" for the talk show host's 58th birthday.

Performing the track for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Troye stuck largely with his Blue Neighbourhood theme: The set was cast in a blue glow and had neon outlines of houses decorating the stage behind him. The YouTuber -- appropriately described by DeGeneres as an artist she "loves so much" -- delivered an energetic and engaging performance, accompanied by a full live band.

Troye expressed his excitement for the performance in a series of tweets following the taping.

He continued, "just drove past the Hollywood sign at sunset after performing on @TheEllenShow. please never let me forget this moment. Not even in like a ‘holy sh—t I’m freaking out’ kinda way, just in a really really thankful way. Thanks for everything guys."

His performance on Ellen proved to be a less physically painful experience for the Australian artist than a concert that took place earlier this month (January 13). During a recent show at Sydney’s Enmore Theater, a concertgoer chucked a water bottle at the stage, hitting Troye in the face as he stood at the microphone.

He later posted about the incident on Twitter, confirming that “it 100% hit me in the face but I didn’t really feel it bc adrenaline."
