Tarralyn Ramsey comes to 'The Voice' having previously won a singing competition on TV. The soulful singer was VH1's 'Born to Diva' champ in 2004, and is hoping that 'The Voice' helps her reach new heights in what already has been a promising music career.

The 31-year-old singer impressed 'Voice' coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green with a powerful performance of Faith Hill's 'Breathe,' before deciding to choose Aguilera as her coach. But that wasn't the first time she's been in the presence of music royalty. Ramsey once toured with Mary J. Blige, and has also shared the stage with such artists as Beyonce, Ashanti and Stevie Wonder.

Ramsey released a gospel album through Warner Brothers Records in 2000. She then signed a deal with Universal Records after her 'Born to Diva' win, which resulted in the release of her 2004 R&B disc, 'Tarralyn.' After her major-label career didn't quite pan out, she took a break from music before returning to the scene with her independently released 2009 gospel album, 'Beyond the Darkness.'

The Jacksonville, Fla., songstress admits she was hesitant to participate in 'The Voice' when she first learned about the show. "I was like, ohhhh no," she writes in a blog post. "No more TV shows for me. People are going to think I am crazzzy. Then it hit me: Tarralyn, you are a girl with a dream traveling a road that few will ever understand, what do you have to lose by going to an audition?"

It appears that Ramsey made the right decision, as she's now on the path to start a new chapter in her surprisingly eventful musical journey.
