Aaron Carter is taking his his talents to the stage once again. The pop star will join the cast of the Off-Broadway production of 'The Fantasticks,' beginning Nov. 7.

According to Playbill, the 23-year-old will take on the role of Matt, who is currently being played by Matt Leisy. Leisy will stay in the production as The Mute.

Carter made his Broadway debut in 2001, playing the role of JoJo the Who in 'Seussical.' Aside from his career as a recording artist, he also had a stint on 'Dancing With the Stars' in 2009.

"Never in the 51-year-history of 'The Fantasticks' have we opted to cast someone with Aaron Carter’s level of fame, instead quietly enjoying our reputation for giving many future stars their first professional performing gig," 'The Fantasticks' writer Tom Jones said in a statement. "But when I saw the level of enthusiasm, professionalism and sheer talent Aaron brought to us, I knew that he would be an incredibly exciting addition to 'The Fantasticks' family."

'The Fantasticks' is the world's longest-running musical. It first opened at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in May 1960, but closed on Jan. 13, 2002. The production resumed performances at the Snapple Theater Center's Jerry Orbach Theater on June 16, 2008.

Carter has released four albums during his career, as well as three compilation discs. He is reportedly working on a new LP, but the release date has not yet been set.
