Breaking up is hard to do and making it in the music business is even harder. British diva Adele has done both and she is finding out that with success comes people from the past with their hands outstretched! According to the NME, the singer's ex-boyfriend is apparently asking for a share of the profits from her debut, '19,' since their fractured relationship informed and inspired that album and its songs!

It appears that said dastardly ex was serious about his request and it's incredibly shady to suggest or joke about such matters. As if!

Adele reportedly told The Sun that "For about a week he was calling and was deadly serious about it. Finally, I said "Well, you made my life hell, so I lived it and now I deserve it.'"

The singer also gave him props, in an backhanded sort of way. "He really thought he'd had some input into the creative process by being a prick," she admitted. "I'll give him the credit – he made me an adult, and put me on the road that I'm traveling."

And credit is all said ex deserves. The rest is all Adele and her talent, and her ability to make a refreshing glass of lemonade out of the lemons that her ex handed her.

Her new album, '21,' is one of the year's best-selling and most critically adored platters.
