Nicki Minaj's 'Super Bass' has received the cover treatment from an unlikely source -- Season 8 'American Idol' contestant Anoop Desai.

"Changed it up a bit for y'all. Listen and let me know what you think!," Desai wrote on Twitter to introduce the song. The 24-year-old keeps the instrumentation from Minaj's song, but not its rhymes about "the boys with the booming system." Instead, Desai croons about being more than willing to put aside the macho image of the typical guy and chase a girl he likes.

"Every bass needs a treble, something right on top / If you're willing and able, I'd like to give you a shot," he sings with genuine emotion. Desai keeps the chorus of the original song, singing Minaj's hook and bragging, "I got that super bass."

Desai's cover of 'Super Bass' could ignite interest in his new mixtape 'Zero.0,' featuring the track 'OoWee,' a club-ready tune that he told PopCrush is a perfect summer jam. Desai finished sixth on his season of 'Idol,' which was ultimately won by Kris Allen.

'Super Bass,' from Minaj's 'Pink Friday' album, currently sits at No. 3 on the pop chart. It has also been given an unlikely cover by Karmin.
