Good news, Avril Lavigne fans! Get ready to see more of the starlet if all goes to plan. The Canadian poppy-punkster is in talks to be a new 'X Factor' judge.

Following Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger's exits from the show, Simon Cowell has been seemingly scrambling to fill the ladies' seats on the panel. Rumors have flown with potential replacements for the two judges, including Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and, obviously prior to her passing, the late Whitney Houston.

Lavigne has an ace in her hand: her connection to L.A. Reid. Lavigne was one of Reid's proteges, so she already has an in -- and she performed on the show last season with finalist Chris Rene.

Lavigne may have an upper hand in negotiations. TMZ reports that Lavigne had her "people" reach out to the 'X Factor' team to convey her interest in the show. A source told the site that since Lavigne entered the business at such a young age, she feels like she'd be a good coach for the younger kids on the show. We'd tune in for this. Can you imagine Rachel Crow singing 'Sk8r Boi?'
