Many of pop's leading ladies have been going retro when it comes to their hairdos, with the suicide roll gaining in popularity recently. For those of you who aren't familiar with this hairstyle, the suicide roll is when you create somewhat of a swirling pompadour on top of your head. It sounds weird, but it definitely makes you look like a bona fide bada---. So, which songstress rocks the suicide roll best?

We credit Karmin frontwoman Amy Heidemann with the resurgence of this very vintage hairstyle. We'd also like to thank the 'Brokenhearted' songstress for bringing it back, because it really is an awesomely unconventional way to wear your locks. And for those of you who want to emulate her hairdo, you're in luck! Heidemann has an instructional video on YouTube on how to get your suicide roll perfect.

Demi Lovato was also spotted rocking a suicide roll in July 2012 on the set of 'X Factor.' The style really compliments the newly-blond singer well, and her leather jacket and pink tips also add to her overall look. Meanwhile, Gwen Stefani of No Doubt, who can wear just about any hairdo and make it look beyond good, pinned her platinum hair up into a suicide roll for an event in early 2012.
