Beyonce offered a select group of fans a preview of her upcoming album, '4,' by hosting a listening party at Sony Music's offices in New York on Wednesday. The superstar singer played five of the albums songs, and talked about the album at the event.

Beyonce said she wanted to give her vocals a live feeling on the disc, which is due out in the late summer. “When editing the ['Beyonce: I Am … World Tour'] DVD, I noticed that the tone of my voice is different live [than my recording one],” Beyonce told the lucky audience, according to JustJared.com. “So I used that live performance tone throughout the record.”

Among the five songs previewed was a track inspired by Nigerian musician Fela Kuti; a Babyface-penned revenge song; a tune written by Kanye West collaborator Jeff Bhasker; a cut that samples Boyz II Men's 'Uhh Ahh'; and a heartfelt ballad that prompted Beyonce to have the lights turned down in the room.

Beyonce also showed the onlookers the video for 'Run the World (Girls).' However, the rest of us will have to wait, as the clip will not premiere today (May 13) as originally planned. Apparently, Beyonce is still "perfecting" the clip, according to the video-syndication website VEVO:

"OK, bad news: 'Run the World (Girls)' won't be out on Friday like we thought. No new date yet. Beyonce is perfecting it," reads a statement from VEVO. "We're disappointed too but wanted to let you know as soon as we knew. We'll [put] it up as soon as we do get it!"
