This morning, Britney Spears appeared on 'Good Morning America' in order to celebrate the release of her latest album, 'Femme Fatale,' which drops today. The 'Good Morning America' sequence was shot in San Francisco, Calif., where Spears performed at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for a mob of excited, screaming fans.

Before Britney took the stage, there was a huge amount of hype from the people at ABC for her return to the stage. Spears kicked off her series of performances with 'Hold It Against Me,' and the singer emerged from behind a giant screen. Ms. Spears was looking as sexy as ever, dressed in a sparkly, silver bodysuit with her blond hair styled in loose curls.

As Britney started singing 'Hold It Against Me,' it quickly became clear that her performance was not what we were expecting. It is already a well-known fact that Britney mostly lip syncs onstage, and that she does this mainly because of her intricate dance performances. So naturally, we were really confused when Britney's energy failed to match that of her up-tempo dance songs. At one point during the song, Spears even forgot the not-so-difficult choreography and looked lost next to her backup dancers.

For her second song, things got a little better. Britney performed a mashup of her new collabo with will.i.am, 'Big Fat Bass,' along with snippets of older songs like '3,' 'I'm a Slave 4 U,' and 'Gimme More.' At first, Britney was nowhere to be found, but the singer still proved she had theatrics down to fine science, as a dancer flipped open one of the many lit-up speakers onstage to reveal the pop songstress.

Britney definitely let loose more as she popped and locked alongside her dancers, but still failed to wow us with her dancing. The highlight of the performance came with a backup dancer in green tearing up the floor with a series of insane moves, as Britney sat idly in the background atop a speaker.

Her final song 'Till the World Ends' saw the most dancing from Ms. Brit. Even though she was dressed in a skin-hugging, latex black jumpsuit with a red light-up bra, Britney seemed to be more comfortable than her past two songs. She looked like she was having fun as she danced around, but still failed to complete a solid, tight performance alongside her experienced dancers.

Despite the lackluster dancing, Britney's sets and light shows were dazzling and entertaining, with scaffolding dance sequences, flashing strobe lights, explosive fireworks, and much, much more. At the end of the show, 'GMA' weatherman, Sam Champion, presented the singer with a plaque from the mayor of San Francisco, officially declaring today Britney Spears Day.

So did Britney not prepare enough for her performances? Or can she simply not handle the strenuous dance routines that we are used to seeing from her? Either way, this probably won't affect the pop star's ticket sales for her upcoming tour with Enrique Iglesias, which she also announced on the show. Britney has a loyal following who have proven that they will stand by the singer through thick and thin, and from the sound of their uproars, they were just happy to have their favorite pop star back on the stage with new music.
