Chris Brown, who stole the show with an emotional tribute to Michael Jackson at last year's BET Awards, has been named the top nominee for the 2011 ceremony, with six nominations, just ahead of Lil Wayne's five.

Aside from an ugly Good Morning America incident, it's been a good year for Brown, who has been able to achieve success and move beyond the dark cloud of his 2009 assault on Rihanna.

Brown will compete against Rihanna for two trophies, Viewers' Choice and Best Collaboration. In the latter category, both performers are nominated twice: Rihanna for 'All of the Lights' with Kanye West and 'What's My Name' with Drake; and Brown for 'Look At Me Now' with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes and for 'Deuces' with Tyga and Kevin McCall.

The BET voters embraced Brown so much they even nominated him for Best Actor, for his work on the film 'Takers.'

'Whip My Hair' singer Willow scored three nods, including the YoungStars Award, where she will compete against her brother Jaden.

Cali Swag District, who lost M-Bone to a drive-by shooting this week, picked up a Best Group nod.

The 2011 BET Awards take place on June 26 in Los Angeles. Find the full list of contenders here.
