Third ‘Divergent’ Book to Be Split Into Two Movies
'Divergent' fans, get ready to see a little more of Beatrice 'Tris' Prior on the big screen.
With the first film currently performing well across the world, the film's studio, Summit Entertainment, has announced that the third book in the 'Divergent' trilogy, 'Allegiant,' will now be split into two films. 'Allegiant - Part 1' will be released on March 28, 2016 while 'Allegiant - Part 2' will be planned for a March 24, 2017 release.
The split of the third 'Divergent' book follows what seems to be a new pattern in Hollywood book series adaptations. The last Harry Potter book, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' was the first to be split into two films and was later followed by 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' and the upcoming 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' adaptations.
Often compared to 'The Hunger Games,' the 'Divergent' young adult book series is also set in a future dystopian society and tells of a young female heroine named Beatrice 'Tris' Prior and her plans to rebel against a cruel and authoritative government. Veronica Roth penned all three books in the series which includes 'Divergent,' 'Insurgent' and 'Allegiant.'
Shailene Woodley will reprise her role as Beatrice in the film's sequels alongside Theo James, who plays Tobias "Four" Eaton - Beatrice's love interest.
The movie version of 'Insurgent' is currently in production with a planned March 20, 2015 release date.
What do you think fans? Are you looking forward to seeing three 'Divergent' sequels?
