Why wait for the critics to chime in? As far as Sir Elton John is concerned, Lady Gaga's forthcoming fifth studio album is a masterpiece, and there's no reason to say anything to the contrary. The matter is settled.

On his Rocket Hour Beats 1 radio show yesterday (September 29), John, who's a good friend of Gaga's (she's the godmother of one of his sons) said he got an early listen to the follow up to 2013's Artpop — and what he heard left him eager for more.

"She’s in the throes of writing her new album," he said (you can catch the full segment on Lady Gaga Now). "I’ve heard some of it and it’s absolutely fabulous. She’s been doing really different things...and it’s really, really fantastic."

A nice sentiment, if an eerily familiar one. In 2010, before the masses got a taste of "Born This Way," John insisted to Entertainment Weekly it was "f---ing amazing" and swore it would stand the test of time.

"‘Born This Way,’ which is the title song, will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive,’" he predicted. "This is the new ‘I Will Survive.’ That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem. Actually, it’s not a gay anthem—it can apply to anybody."

Think Elton's assessment can be trusted, considering he's inside the circle? Tell us if you're looking forward to Gaga's next work!
