In "Love Myself," Hailee Steinfeld proudly declares "I’m gonna touch the pain away / I know how to scream my own name," but in a new acoustic rendition of the track, she's taken things down to a shout.

Armed with a guitar backing and the support of a simple drum beat, the singer lays down verses, rehearses a dance sequence and laughs with engineers in the clip above, which was released yesterday (September 7). The song's official video may have found her belting the self-service sentiment from rooftops, but here, she's content sharing it with a handful of co-workers in a darkened studio. Hey, whatever gets the message to the masses — THE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW.

(Oh, and we'd be remiss not to mention Hailee enjoys a few pizza breaks in her downtime — if you're going to indulge, you might as well shoot for the stars.)

If you find you're a fan of the "Love Myself" nuance, expect to hear more of it from Steinfeld's forthcoming work. In June, she told Billboard she's aiming for an "edgy pop" sound and is trying to write whenever possible.

"I’m co-writing a lot, which is really exciting," she said. "Even to be in the room when a song comes together, and give them the idea of what I had in mind on something I’m going through or living with and they’re able to put it into words for me, that process is really exciting to be a part of. I find that I’m doing it more and more."
