Haley Reinhart glimmered in red and growled out a big performance of Adele's 'Rolling In the Deep' on tonight's live episode of 'American Idol.'

The hopeful sat perched in front of the judges on a stool, cool as a cucumber, and effortlessly laid down a cover of Adele that could arguably give the original a run for its money -- and the judges agreed.

"I think you chose a perfect direction for you," Randy Jackson told her, after stressing that the judges now have their eyes set on what kind of artists the contestants will later become. "I think Adele is an amazing artist, I think she's an amazing singer, and I think you have that amazing thing in you as a singer as well."

"I thought it was a little slow at the start, but you brought it up in the middle and did what you do the best," Steven Tyler added. The top seven remaining contestants were pressed to pick music from the 21st century in this run, and all three judges seemed to admire that Reinhart chose a current shining star.

"It takes a lot of guts that everybody knows so well right now, and you have to sing it just as good -- if not better -- than the singer, and you did," J. Lo chimed in. "You brought a little bit of Haley to it in certain moments, and that's where I thought you really shined."

"There's a lot of opinions in this world," Reinhart said when Ryan Seacrest asked her how she was feeling going in. She added, nobly, "Take it all in stride."
