Jada Pinkett Smith Admits She Had an ‘Unhealthy Relationship With Porn’
Jada Pinkett Smith revealed she was addicted to porn before meeting husband Will Smith.
In a new episode of her Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk, the Girls Trip star opened up about her "unhealthy relationship" with pornography during a discussion with her mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, and her daughter, Willow Smith.
"If I was still on my porn game, I'd be able to show you some good porn," Jada tells Adrienne and Willow at the beginning of the video. "Back in the day I had a little porn addiction, but I wasn't in a relationship when I had a porn addiction, believe it or not, thank goodness."
"I actually feel like I was using 'addiction' a little lightly," she explained later on in the ep. "And maybe I'll say now that I had an unhealthy relationship to porn at one point in my life where I was trying to practice abstinence."
When 18-year-old Willow asked her mom where she thinks her "fixation" with porn came from, Jada said she believes she was trying to fill an emotional void. "It was actually like filling an emptiness, at least you think it is," she said. "But it's actually not. It’s a slippery slope."
She added that the porn she was watching gave her "false expectations," which later opened up a dialogue about how it can negatively impact a person's life and their relationships. Though Jada doesn't believe watching porn is bad, it's just important to set boundaries and not affect your real life or get in the way of real relationships.
