We're sad to report that Jay Dee Springbett, a former judge on 'Australian Idol' was found dead at his Sydney home on Thursday. Sprinbett was just 36.

MTV reports that Springbett as discovered after friends alerted the authorities when they couldn't make contact with him. He was already deceased when the respondents found him. The cause of death has yet to be determined at press time, but it has been said that the authorities do not suspect that any sort of foul play was involved.

Springbett was a native of the UK and worked for Sony Music as a record executive before joining the Oz version of 'Idol' during its last season in 2009. He was deemed the "nice guy" of the show during his tenure.

Australia's Network Ten, which aired the show, released a short statement about Springbett's passing, which read as follows: "Our heartfelt condolences go out to Jay Dee's family at this very difficult time. Jay Dee was an asset to the final season of 'Australian Idol,' [and] we feel honored to have worked with him."
