British pop-newcomer Jessie J, whose single 'Price Tag' recently topped the UK charts, sat down to chat with Vevo -- specifically through their artist development program Lift -- where she shared the story of the first time she met Cyndi Lauper -- and got to sing with her.

"Cyndi Lauper was so funny," Jessie tells Vevo Lift, recanting their meeting for the camera. "I remember turning up to soundcheck and she was on the stage talking to her band like, 'This is good, we need to do this, we need to do that,' and then she came up to me and she was like 'Are you the girl? Are you the girl?,'" the 22-year-old singer recalls, mimicking Lauper's American accent.

She adds, "I was like okay, I'll be the girl if that's what you want me to be. And she was like, 'I saw your YouTube video and I think you're amazing!' She was lovely."

Jessie says she was flattered by Lauper's fawning, but her jaw simply dropped when the 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' singer asked her to join her on stage to perform the big hit. "She is one of those people who is like legendary. I mean, 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' is like an anthem for me -- and it was out before I was born!," Jessie says, though she admits that she had to learn the 'proper' words to the song via YouTube, and even flubbed the performance a bit.

Jessie J's new album, 'Who You Are,' is set for a US release on April 12, but her R&B ballad 'Casualty of Love' made its way to iTunes yesterday.
