Katy Perry, ‘E.T.’ – Song Spotlight

Katy Perry puts a spin on the art of seduction with 'E.T.' -- a song about the insatiable desire to be involved with the one who is so different from the others that he's "extraterrestrial." If there's one thing we know, it's that this kind of passion is out of this world.

The 'I Kissed a Girl' singer-turned-pop superstar took to Twitter to ask fans to vote for their favorite song as the upcoming single -- the answer was clear, with the responses heavily favoring 'E.T.' Perry is set to release 'E.T.,' from her Grammy nominated album 'Teenage Dream,' as her fourth official single this month.

This pop song with a techno backbeat describes a misunderstood, futuristic lover with a cosmic kiss. The lyrics, co-written by Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Ammo, make it clear that Perry is ready to be beamed up:
"You're from a whole other world / A different dimension / You open my eyes / And I'm ready to go, lead me into the light."

As suspected, Perry adds later in the song that she's "ready for abduction" -- and truth be told, we've often wondered what planet her husband Russell Brand might be from.
