Pop diva Katy Perry has an eye for the eccentric, so it really doesn't come as a surprise that she has dreams of one day being able to play wacky super nanny Mary Poppins in a remake of the children's movie.

After seeing a theatrical reproduction of 'Mary Poppins' in Sydney, Australia, Perry spoke of her hopes to one day play the English governess in a remake of the 1964 film, which originally starred actress Julie Andrews.

"I can't deny that I used to grab an umbrella and think, 'I could take off with the right winds' as a kid," Perry told The Mirror. She also stated that she would want her husband, British actor Russell Brand, to co-star with her as Mary Poppins' chimney sweep love interest, Bert, played by Dick Van Dyke in the original. "[Russell would] have less trouble with the accent than me," Perry jokingly says.

We think Perry would make a perfect fit as Poppins; it is quite easy to imagine the 'E.T.' singer dressed in vintage English clothing clutching her carpet bag as she flies through the sky. However, it is hard to imagine the towering Brand nimbly dancing around as a chimney sweep.  If the project ever ends up happening, we have to wish her luck on trying to nail the lyrics to 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.'
