Pop diva Katy Perry was the special guest on 'Oprah' today, joining Staten Island's PS 22 Kids, the singing stars of last night's Oscar telecast, to perform a special version of her hit single 'Firework.'

After an extremely-hoarse voiced Oprah Winfrey interviewed a barrage of Oscar-winning actors from the stage of the Staples Center, she brought out the musical stars of the Oscar event. The 64 singing fifth graders from the metropolitan New York area ended the awards show last night with an epic reading of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow.'

On Oprah's show, they instead started singing a version of 'Firework,' the third single from Perry's current album 'Teenage Dream.' After about one verse, the backdrop lifted to reveal a very special star. Miss Russel Brand herself!  She took the lead with her eager backing chorus for the rest of the song.

After the commercial break, Oprah, the queen of all television, revealed that Perry had flown all the way from Vienna to appear on the show today. When asked why she was willing to do so, the singer joked about being afraid of saying 'no' to Winfrey. "Well, I had to come because, well ... You called."

Perry then went on to explain the real reason, which was how inspired she was when she first saw the self-made YouTube videos of the elementary school kids in action. Then, this being 'Oprah,' the kids all got phones, as a jet-lagged Perry headed out to parts unknown, probably on another long plane flight.
