Lady Gaga wore a high-end, asymmetrical black dress to the International Emmys in New York City last Monday (Nov. 21.). The dress was one sleeved and boasted a square collar, so it was avant garde, which we expect from the always fashion-forward Mother Monster. But it was hardly just another gorgeous, head-turning ensemble from Gaga. The up-to-there slit, which was waist-high, showed off plenty of skin and the black tattoo that adorns her thigh. It could have revealed her nether regions if she turned the wrong way.

Yeah, that was a complete accident.

It wasn't a wardrobe malfunction, either. TMZ tracked down a spokesperson for the designer, Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture in France, who revealed that the sheath was fresh from the runway and was not altered by a tailor. It was meant to be worn by a model leggier and taller than Gaga. Since Gaga is known for wearing towering, hard-to-walk-in stilettos, that problem could have been easily solved with a pair of neckbreaking heels, no?

Still, the design house rep said, "The slit came way further up her waist than what our designers had in mind."

The designer even stated, "We're not mad that the dress ended up looking like that on Gaga ... she does make it a little naughtier!" Gaga did pair the dress with tumbling, white waves, fire engine red lips, rounded red nails and square-shaped shades, giving the anything but basic black frock her signature edge. It was a little, er, deconstructed, to use a fashion term. PopCrush digs how the dress was cut to reveal all of her tattoos, which live on the left side of her body.

Paws up!
