Lady Gaga Rides It Cowboy Style in ‘John Wayne’ Video

Surprise, Little Monsters.

Riding high (very high, actually) off of the Super Bowl 51 halftime show, the newly announced Joanne World Tour and a sure to be RuMarkable appearance on the upcoming season of RuPaul's Drag Race, Lady Gaga just unveiled the motorcycle revvin', beer bottle swingin', Jonas Åkerlund-directed music video for her Joanne fan favorite, "John Wayne."

It's basically a perfect marriage (the night) of the rich visual extravagance of the Fame Monster and Born This Way eras with the whole serious-folk-artist-with-a-guitar-and-cowboy-hat theme of Joanne (so, the return of sky-high stilettos and killer choreography mixed with some good ol' American grit) — or kind of like little bits of "Telephone" and "Judas" given some Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse-esque gun-slingin' goodness.

Also, getting smacked in the head repeatedly with branches and beer cans? A Lady Gaga who takes herself a little less seriously is a welcome one, indeed.

And just like that, Joanne is a pop star again.
