Lady Gaga will serve as the mentor during next week's performance episode of 'American Idol.' Gaga will offer her advice and guidance to the Final Four contestants: Scotty McCreery, Haley Reinhart (who sang Gaga's currently unreleased 'You & I' last week), James Durbin and Lauren Alaina.

The remaining quartet of hopefuls will be performing songs penned by Leiber & Stoller, a songwriting team responsible for classic cuts like 'Jailhouse Rock.' The performance episode will air on Wednesday night.

Gaga has appeared on 'Idol' before in a performance capacity. She sang her hit 'Alejandro' from 'The Fame Monster' last May.

A tweet was posted by the show's official Twitter account which read as follows: "Next week, @LadyGaga will mentor top 4 who perform songs by Leiber & Stoller. @TheRealJordin Sparks performing, @IAmStevenT debuting video."

Host Ryan Seacrest also confirmed the good news, tweeting: "I only have one word for our mentor on @AmericanIdol; next week.......... Gaga."

As the 'Idol' tweet indicates, Jordin Sparks, the Season 6 winner, is returning to perform next week. As crunch time rolls around on Season 10, the stakes are higher, the mentors are more prolific and the performances are getting better.
