It was only a matter of time before somebody tried to bring down Lady Gaga from her throne as pop queen. According to Star, via Radar Online, Gaga will be the subject of a new tell-all book authored by investigative journalist Ian Halperin, who also penned biographies about Michael Jackson, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. In an interview with Star, Halperin lays some weighty accusations at Gaga's door and tells the tab that Gaga is both "sick" and "obsessed" and accuses her of rampant drug use and dietary issues. Oh boy. Here we go.

"Those who have worked with her on tour reported to me that Gaga barely ate for weeks at a time to fit into her costume," said Halperin, who has spent 12 months investigating Gaga and her life for his book. He said, "She is sick and obsessed with her weight. One friend told me, Gaga will stare at herself in the mirror for hours on end, analyzing and critiquing her body. It's an unhealthy obsession."

Halperin also claims that Gaga is more afflicted by the disease lupus, which she bravely and publicly disclosed, than she lets on. He said, "Part of the reason she wears wigs and makeup is because her hair is falling out and she's covered in red blotches, both side effects of the disease." Hmm, we're going to go ahead and disagree with you on that one, Ian. Gaga's a highly visual artist and her wigs are her makeup are an artistic extension of her style and her sound. Nice try, though.

At the root of his blockbuster claims is the assertion that Gaga is overdoing it with massive amounts of drugs, and that she has been for quite some time. "Her drug use started young. From heroin to cocaine and ecstasy, her friends say that she has done every drug conceivable. You name it she has done it," he said. Well, that's not a bombshell piece of news. Gaga has addressed and admitted drug use in interviews with major publications.

Halperin also argues that Gaga is a shell of her former self -- Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta -- as well. "She's morphed into this caricature called Lady Gaga, who isn't even a real person. The girl known as Stefi to her friends and family has all but disappeared," he said. Wait, didn't Gaga herself say that she straddles the thin line between fantasy and reality? Another instance of Halperin stretching the truth to fit his assertions.

From what he's say, it sounds like Halperin is putting spin on already obvious Gaga information and thumbing the scale in a negative light.
