Lauren Alaina Doesn’t Fall ‘Flat’ on ‘American Idol’ Tonight

The contestants on tonight's episode of 'American Idol' were challenged to sing songs from "Now and Then," and Southern bell Lauren Alaina chose to go back to her country roots. She took on the Carrie Underwood song 'Flat on the Floor,' and Alaina's newfound confidence shined through.

'Flat on the Floor' is a country rock song, and Alaina's voice is perfect for this kind of performance. The 15-year-old wore tight black tants, black boots, and black fringed top as she worked the lit up stage. When she hit the line, "'Til there ain't no sun, 'til there ain't no sun to you," Alaina hit it hard, displaying a spitfire attitude that matched the song perfectly.

"That is the direction for you. I love you showing this fun, energetic side," Jackson tells Alaina. Tyler wholeheartedly agrees, saying, "The sky's the limit ... I think you're it." Jennifer Lopez closes out the acclaims, saying, "We saw that you want it ... Just like that every time." Let's hope Alaina sticks around to show the judges more great performances, since she seems to grow more as an artist every episode.
