When contestant Lauren Turner sang on the latest episode of 'American Idol,' judge Randy Jackson had one emphatic declaration regarding his fellow stateswoman's performance -- "That's how you do it, man." Tonight, Turner wowed the judges and audience with her smoky, bluesy, soulful rendition of Etta James' classic 'Seven Day Fool.'

She may be a Louisiana native, but Turner channeled British soul effortlessly tonight. She could veritably be the next Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone or Adele, thanks to her retro, robust and undeniably powerhouse voice. There was no doubt that Turner was singing the song and not the other way around!

Turner's performance started out strong, and unlike most of her fellow female contestants so far this evening, she got better and grew more confident as she soared through the song. Judge Jennifer Lopez had but one criticism for Turner: be more full-bodied. Lopez suggested the singer employ some more physical movement when performing in order to be the complete the package. Let's hope she takes that advice into account next week.
