Little Mix Fans Upset Over Jade Thirlwall Not Being Cast as Princess Jasmine
Little Mix fans are frustrated over the casting of Jasmine in Disney's upcoming live-action Aladdin film.
Mixers were excited to learn that group member Jade Thirlwall, who is of Yemeni and Egyptian descent, was reportedly in talks to take the role as the iconic princess of fictional Agrabah.
Back in June, the pop star compounded rumors when she told reporters at Capital's Summertime Ball that she could neither "confirm nor deny" an audition with Disney, though the "group always comes first, whatever happens."
On Saturday, however, it was revealed at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California that Power Rangers star Naomi Scott, who played Kimberly Hart, a.k.a. the Pink Ranger, had been cast in the role.
Scott, who was born in London, is of Gujarati Indian and British descent.
Meanwhile, the role of Aladdin will be played by actor Mena Massoud while Will Smith has been cast as the Genie.
